Click to expand.You might try Vine Server; it's more configurable than OSX's built-in VNC server and will serve up fewer colours. This might make it faster for you (but less pretty). Windows Remote Desktop does much of the rendering on the client, AIUI, which makes it faster; it says 'I want a window this big' and the client draws it, rather than the VNC method of basically sending screenshots. Click to expand. I've used it (X-platform) for quite a while now (V2 or somesuch) and find it very good. I used to use PCAnwhere years ago so the format is very familiar to me. In fact, whilst I have used VNC and RDC when I've had to I really can't see the point of all the extra complication.

Teamviewer is even pretty good when the person on the other end of the phone / IM call has to get and run it and who mat not be particularly computer savvy. No accounts to make or firewalls to set up. A while back I helped my niece setup her VPN into work using it and even installed Linux Mint remotely over it.;-) Lifesaver product.;-) Cheers, T i m p.s. Click to expand.On the Windows client it's an option during install (and / or can be set later etc) and I've certainly set it to be available on boot on Linux as well. I've only played with it on OSX in-house (ok with the Minis but the Quicksilver was a bit unreliable) so not sure without rebooting this Mini and trying.
It just seems one of the tools that pretty well does what most people need OOTB and there are also extra things there (like file browsing / transfer, role switching etc) if required. Also pretty good for remote coaching / handholding.
