• Sonicwall Netextender Ssl-vpn Client (mac)

I have only basic knowledge of Mac's so I need some help. OS version = 10.7.2 Netextender Version = can't remember, but its the latest version downloaded by accessing the download through VPN Box = Sonicwall SSLVPN 200 Problem description: I've installed Netextender with no problems onto a Mac running 10.7.2, when i attempt to connect to my work Microsoft Server, it authenticates, and then connects. The Transmit and Reciveve counters then freeze on about 200 - 300k, and my Internet connection also freezes, no errors at all, launching Safari just gives me a blank white page with no error. The instant I disconnect Netextender, the web page loads and all is well again. When I view the Netextender log all is fine, with no errors.

My first thought is that Netextender is somehow overruling the local internet settings with the VPN ones, but I have no idea where to look or how to solve this. Any help and guidance would be very much appreciated.

Regards Steve Walker. It sounds as though your VPN connection secures all networks and possibly that you have IP overlap i.e. Your LAN IPs match the remote LAN. Have not use the Sonicwall Netextender, but see whether you have an option to not set the VPN IP as the default route/gateway. In terminal window prior to connecting to your work run netstat -rn to get the current routing table on your system. Then after you connect to the remote rerun netstat -rn and see whether the default route/gateway not reflects the VPN IP. Refer to page 30 to see the menu option where you can check what routes the VPN sets.

The settings might be pushed down from the VPN server so you would need to check with them. Have you ever successfully connected from that MAC to any PC with remote desktop? Are you using the latest version of Remote Desktop for MAC? Do you have a local PC (not over VPN) that you can try to connect to from the MAC? One thing that is a frequent issue. Is the subnet on the LAN behind the VPN the same as that on the MAC you are trying to connect from? For example, both have an ip of 192.168.1.x Have you enabled remoted connections on the target PC?

Can you RDP to it from a system on that local LAN? Are you trying to RDP to the remote PC via an ip or name? If name, try to us an ip.

Your settings may differ if you are using a different SonicWALL or a different firmware version – but things should be similar, in the same classes of firewalls.
